Driving and Navigation Systems
My wife and I purchased a Honda Pilot with a built-in navigation system this year. The navigation option cost quite a bit, but we thought it was worth it considering she'd be the primary driver and would be driving our baby around in it. That and I thought it was cool.
It certainly is cool and it's hard to imagine me driving without one in the future. Today I drove from Hoboken, NJ to Nags Head, NC (

While I was driving, I realized the truly great thing about it is that eliminates a lot of the stress you'd normally encounter when taking a long trip. I just sat back and drove and did what I was told. Nine hours later I heard the nav system say "Destination". Such a pleasure.
I don't like driving long distances as I prefer to fly, but this made the whole trip a lot easier. This is when technology really shines.
That said, I think in the future I'll opt for a navigation system that's not built into the car. There are plenty available (
Garmin
and
Tom Tom
) and at much more reasonable prices than the built-in versions.
