iTunes - Is Apple Starting to Get It?
I
wrote some time ago
that something had to change with the online music services such as iTunes. The problem to me is that it is inevitable that users who have spent lots of $$ purchasing music will have a hardware catastrophe and lose their music because of it. Sure, people should be backing up their music, but honestly, most average users out there have enough trouble figuring out how to use their systems, let alone configure a viable back-up process.
So, I argued that since these stores know what you've purchased and have happily accepted your money, they should allow the users to re-download their purchased music. At the time, I even agreed that there could be a limit to the number of times an individual could re-download in case of emergency.
Well,
see this post
(via

They were responsive, flipped a switch, and allowed him to download his purchased music again. Nice! Let's hope they continue to go down this road. It's only going to foster better relationships with their users. I guarantee you that if they did this for me, I'd continue purchasing stuff from them. If not, I'd think more than twice. Good to hear this.
