CrunchNotes Job-posting API...Hmm.
Interesting
post
on
CrunchNotes
today (via
Dave Winer
). Seems Mike Arrington, who has a
job-posting
site, has approached
Om Malik
who will also be hosting a job-posting site and asked if he would become partners and help develop a job-posting API. Seems like a great idea to me, but Om apparently passed on the idea so far.
Mike wants to develop an open API to allow for posting jobs to websites and I hope he does. Seems that if he gets the API right, other smaller job-posting sites will be likely to implement it, much like the
MetaWeblogAPI
has now been accepted in different blog-hosting services and applications.
If an API is developed, a cool idea would be to develop a job-posting mash-up site to aggregate the various job-posting site RSS feeds into one very manageable site. If Mike does develop an API, then the mash-up site should implement it and allow job-postings to CrunchBoard. I think once that happed, other job-posting sites would support his API. I'm sure a monetary solution could make all involved parties very happy, from the job-posting sites to the mash-up site(s).
Your thoughts are welcome.
